  • REALTORS® Bring a Wealth of Helpful Homebuying and Selling Resources

    May 14, 2025

    Equipped with valuable resources for both homebuyers and sellers, REALTORS® hold a unique position in the real estate industry. From lenders to home inspectors, repair and home improvement professionals, and landscapers, their networks help homebuyers and sellers obtain quality services while saving time and money. According to the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR), 75% of homebuyers and sellers utilized REALTOR®-recommended services, underscoring the importance of these connections.

    An increase in usage of these services over the last 18 months reflects their importance in boosting home value.

    • The American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI) reported a 15% increase in home inspections;
    • The Home Improvement Research Institute (HIRI) noted a 12% rise in home improvement projects;
    • The National Gardening Association (NGA) highlighted a 20% growth in landscaping services that enhance outdoor spaces.

    “REALTORS® have valuable resources at their fingertips that help home sellers and buyers throughout the real estate transaction process,” says Abby Hauke, board chair for the Greater Milwaukee Association of REALTORS® (GMAR). “They match sellers with an array of professionals who get their properties in optimal shape for the market, as well as provide recommendations for lenders.”

    Accessing Trusted Lenders

    “A real estate transaction is often the most expensive, largest investment decision in a person’s life,” says Tom McCormick, broker/owner of EXIT Realty Horizons. “REALTORS® understand the intricacies of different lending options and can easily connect homebuyers with reputable lenders who best match a buyer’s financial needs.”

    Experienced lenders facilitate efficient loan approvals and get the most favorable terms. A recent survey by the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) revealed that 67% of homebuyers relied on REALTOR® recommendations for their mortgage lenders, highlighting the important role REALTORS® play in securing financing.

    Tapping into Reliable Home Inspectors

    Home inspections play a pivotal role in the homebuying process by ensuring a property is in optimal condition.

    “It’s absolutely critical for a buyer to know what exactly they’re buying,” says McCormick. “There’s no buyer’s remorse worse than discovering issues after the purchase and knowing they could have been addressed with an inspection.”

    That’s where quality home inspectors come in. REALTORS® rely on their networks of experienced home inspectors to provide thorough property evaluations for home buyers and sellers. Condition reports compiled by qualified inspectors facilitate making informed decisions and avoiding potential pitfalls.

    Skilled Repair and Home Improvement Professionals

    Enhancing a property before listing it usually enhances the asking price. REALTORS®’s vast connections with established, skilled repair and home improvement professionals help home sellers find reliable contractors.

    “When it comes to helping sellers get their homes ready for market, REALTORS® are solution seekers,” says Jean Stefaniak, a REALTOR® with The Stefaniak Group. “Recommendations from a REALTOR® provide a level of assurance that repairs and improvements will be done correctly, efficiently and at a competitive rate.”

    Expert Landscapers

    Curb appeal plays a significant role in attracting buyers and enhancing a property’s value. According to Beth Jaworski, a REALTOR® with Shorewest Elmbrook/Wauwatosa who also holds the NAR GREEN certification, a variety of green efforts improve a home’s marketability.

    “Attractive lighting, shrubbery, trees, flower beds and rain gardens add interest to a home’s presentation,” says Jaworski. “REALTORS® know skilled landscapers with expertise in creating beautiful outdoor spaces that improve a property’s overall appeal and market value.”

    Benefits to Homebuyers and Sellers

    From securing financing to finalizing repairs and improvements, homebuyers and sellers gain numerous benefits from REALTORS®‘ connections. Access to a network of trusted professionals reduces the time and effort required to find reliable services. REALTORS®’ recommendations translate into top-quality service too since they stem from years of experience and long-standing relationships. Enhanced property value that comes with home improvements and repairs ultimately attracts more buyers and achieves higher sale prices, as well as reducing the time the property spends on the market.
